A. The Trade Adjustment Assistance Program is a federal program that provides special re-employment assistance to workers who lose their jobs, or are specifically threatened with lay-off, due to elements of United States foreign trade. TAA is available only to those persons certified by the U.S. Department of Labor as eligible to apply
Q. What is TRA?
A. Trade Readjustment Allowance is basically an extension of Unemployment Compensation.
Q. How was this assistance activated?
A. A petition for assistance was filed with the Federal Division of Trade Adjustment Assistance.
Q. How was I determined to be eligible to apply for TAA & TRA?
A. You had, or were thought to have had, a qualifying separation from work. A qualifying separation, as it pertains to petition # 70784, is at least 1 week of lay-off since 5/27/08, the impact date.
Q. I believe I am eligible to apply for TAA & TRA but did not receive a notice. What should I do?
