PENSION CHECKS
BEGINNING IN AUGUST 2010, CHRYSLER-UAW RETIREE PENSION CHECKS WILL BE DELIVERED TO HOMES AND POST OFFICE BOXES SEVERAL DAYS LATER THAN USUAL. THIS MEANS SOME MONTHS YOU MAY NOT RECEIVE YOUR PAPER CHECK UNTIL THE 5TH OR THE 6TH DAY OF THE MONTH, DEPENDING ON WHERE THE WEEKEND FALLS. THIS IS DUE TO A REDUCTION IN THE WORKFORCE AT THE U. S. POST OFFICE RESULTING IN MAIL NOT BEING SORTED ON SATURDAYS.
TO PREVENT THIS DELAY AND AVOID THE POSSIBLE LOSS OR THEFT OF YOUR PENSION CHECKS, WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND TO ALL RETIREES AND SURVIVING SPOUSES TO CONTACT BENEFIT EXPRESS AT 1-888-409-3300 TO SET UP AN ELECTRONIC FUNDS TRANSFER SYSTEM TO HAVE THEIR PENSION CHECKS DEPOSITED DIRECTLY IN THEIR BANK ACCOUNT.
WHEN YOU CALL BENEFIT EXPRESS TO START AN ELECTRONIC FUNDS TRANSFER, THEY WILL NEED TO KNOW THE NAME OF YOUR FINANCIAL INSTITUTION, YOUR ACCOUNT NUMBER, THE ROUTING NUMBER OF THE FINANCIAL INSTITUTION, AND THE TYPE OF ACCOUNT (CHECKING OR SAVING) YOU WISH YOUR PENSION TO BE DEPOSITED IN.
WHEN YOU SIGN UP FOR DIRECT DEPOSIT, YOUR PENSION CHECK WILL BE DEPOSITED IN YOUR BANK ACCOUNT THE FIRST BUSINESS DAY OF THE MONTH. AND IF EVER IT IS NOT IN YOUR ACCOUNT ON THE FIRST BUSINESS DAY OF THE MONTH, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO CALL BENEFIT EXPRESS IMMEDIATELY TO INQUIRE ABOUT IT WITHOUT HAVING TO WAIT UNTIL THE 10TH OF THE MONTH, AS IS THE CASE FOR LATE PAPER CHECKS.
